View of Meldon viaduct, West Dartmoor
View of Meldon viaduct, West Dartmoor

A small painting in oils of this much-loved view towards the former railway viaduct at Meldon, from the dam at Meldon Reservoir. The river is the West Okement. This is a late winter image with the gorse in flower, and the beech trees displaying their typical mauve colour that says that spring is not far off...

Painted in a spontaneous manner, wet on wet, I loved painting this work in the studio as it reminds me of the outdoors even when the weather outside is dismal!

Painted with Daler & Rowney Georgian oils on a traditional 16 x 12 inches canvas.

 Framed in a robust quality white frame, size 48 x 38 x 3.5 cm.
