The Fabulous Florence$450
Goldfield, Nevada was the setting in the early 1900s
for one of the richest gold strikes ever discovered in North America. Bonanza gold
was found in a belt just over a mile long and several hundred yards wide with the
world famous Florence Mine near its southern extent. The rich ground north of
the Florence yielded to an open pit excavation during the 1950s well after the
frenzied boom of the early development but remains of the Florence mine and
mill site still haunt the landscape
