Artist directory :: Eric MatrangaI will always thrill at taking blank space and filling it with what my inner eye sees. What I produce has matured as I consider how others view what I do. I am now consciously trying to simplify as well as intensify what I choose to represent.
About
I have been drawing and painting since early childhood. I received a BA in art but spent my working years as a professional geographer. I now find myself disabled, but with plenty of time to produce art. When I draw and paint, the pain falls away and I am present in the piece.
When I started working more regularly at drawing and painting, I realized I was still using the traditional palette of color. As I started adding more of the vivid, acid pigments available, I began to use those pigments in their full intensity. I had been relying on white blended with the traditional color palette in a quite high-key manner. I find I am getting much more pop to the finished work with the full intensity pigments.

 | | I finally got around to updating my work on this website and have bailed out of Northern California. That time spent was not a very pleasant experience but did provide plenty of motivation to leave considerable baggage behind and MOVE ON.

 | | My work "October Sky" was selected for inclusion in the "Inspired by Vincent" Exhibition at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. The exhibit will be on display in Bob's Spot Gallery at the Herberger Theater from February 4th through the 27th of 2022. I will post pictures of the show following the opening. |
 | | Did not win the grant money but did receive another Special Mention Award. The piece selected for inclusion in the show is the same "October Sky" painting that will be hanging in the "Inspired by Vincent" Show during the month of February in Phoenix.

Upgraded Account to Seller
I was planning on doing the upgrade and finally took the plunge. It was a very productive year in Phoenix but there are just too many memories and many of them are not good. Time to move on and continue to shed baggage.
