The “Honeymoon Trail” was a lonely wagon route through southern
Utah and into northern Arizona traversed by the Mormon newlyweds travelling to the farming
communities of Arizona. The trail crossed the Colorado River at Lee’s Ferry and was the only
river crossing for hundreds of miles until modern construction projects bridged the gorges and
dammed the raging torrents the river regularly sent down its path.
