On the wake of the devastation in Japan caused by the tsunami, I am reminded of the scripture in James 4:14 that says "life is but a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away".  God is all powerful and everything that happens is under his control. Yet, I sometimes question why? when things of this magnitude happen.  God's word helps me to put things in perspective.  We carry on our day to day activities, live our lives as though this is it, putting so much emphasis on things that really don't matter, and indulge in so many meaningless sharades, but, just as the word says, life is a vapor.  We and all of our stuff can be taken out without warning or notice;  here one second, gone the next.  God has something better in store for our lives..that is eternal life spent in heaven with him- for those that accept this free gift.  This life is a pilgrimage.  I am so sorry and pray for the families and lost loved ones as a result of the tsunami.  I understand, however, that we cannot hold on too tight to this life.  We too, will pass away to make way for our permanent inheritance.  Earthquakes and tsumanis are happening more frequenly; this is also biblical and is a sign of the end times.  I am thankful that I know Jesus Christ as my savior and when I pass from this life I will be transformed and spend eternity in heaven with him.  Because of this I am at peace.  Many lifes have been lost on this side. Prayerfully, those lives have been transformed and are now in the presence of God.
