FOCUS - Fine Art & Poetic Folly

3/20/10

Focus, you say! How? How on earth? This great big earth, this ball of uncertain destiny.

Swirls of colorful, gleaming lights, illuminating my core.

Jack hammers, sledges, pitchforks; stabbing, jabbing, piercing.

Watchful eyes, rendering no rest.  An eye for an eye lay waiting.  Dogs eating dogs.

Mind boggling offenses, oppression, loveless nations, deceitful occurrences.

The root of all evil, rejection, conflicting resolutions;

Who can find me?

I’m here, all alone, looking in every direction.

Lost in the sauce, too many bosses.  Do this; Do that; Go here; Go there; Pay attention!

Leave me alone!!

I need to go find my way; then maybe I can focus.

This description of experience seems so familiar to me! I can really relate to it! In my case, I have attention deficit disorder, or at least something close to it. I also call it "whatever-it-is", since all my research for information about it and anything similar has shown that there is still so much we haven't sorted out about how our minds work. I find that I have a hard time with some social and intellectual abilities that most people can do easily, and an easy time with others that most people have trouble with. But the 'easy' stuff comes and goes unpredictably, so I can't count on it. It's frustrating and confusing. But when 'things work' it is so rewarding, and there are so many bright spots in the gloom! For me, before I came across the info about ADD or ADHD, I was so confused. I'm still confused, but I have a lot more clues about how I operate than I did before, so that has helped me a lot. This poem&painting is an illuminating and exciting description of how reality can be experienced.

3/2/10

The art auction to raise funds for a mission in downtown San Diego ended on February 26th.  I am thankful for the few individuals that participated and helped to make the auction a success- James Peters from Orange county, Ca,  Aaron McLean from  Winter Park, Florida, Linda Jordan from Santee, Ca, Nina Robinson from San Diego, and Eric Brinker from Spring Valley, Ca.  To God be the glory!
