We stopped in a tiny town south of Billings and spotted these beautiful horses. I jumped out of the truck and went to the barn where I saw a man working. I asked if I could paint his horses. He said ok and asked if he needed to move any one of his pieces of equipment so I could get a good view. He then came out after 20 minutes and to see what I was doing and I told him to return in an hour. He did and he brought the whole family. They were so pleased with my painting that I had to take of picture of them. They had errands to run and vanished. When I was packing up I took the painting of the horses and placed it in a prominent place in the barn for them to find upon their return. It's moments like that that makes me love plein air.
