The forgotten soldiers
The forgotten soldiers

Graphite and charcoal on 18 x 24 bristol board, framed and matted; from a Brady photo of 3 confederate prisoners captured at Gettysburg July 1863  The title of this piece could be used for most images from the civil war or from any war for that matter; the names of even the most iconic images of the everyday soldier are generally forgotten. These men were prisoners. Did they survive the war? Did they see home again, have families...nobody knows.....(sold)
