On inspection the basic structure of the Pigs chassis was structural sound. However this was one of the jobs which took a long time to complete due to the various stages of treatment.
  • Loose rust was removed using wire brush attachments on an angle grinder for the larger areas and a drill for the more awkward areas.
  • A rust neutraliser was applied to the metal to neutralise any remaining rust in pitted areas.
  • A liberal coating of red oxide was applied.
  • When happy with the red oxide coating a liberal coat of Wax oil was applied to the chassis, using a 50-50 wax oil-engine oil mix for all cavities.
