Exhaust Heat Shield FabricationThe heat shield protects the N/S shock absorber and originally consists of an asbestos pad retained in a bracket welded to the downpipe. The asbestos pad is held in place with 4 tabs which compress a rectangular steel washer against the pad.
The corroded heat shield was fully removed and a replacement fabricated using 1.5mm sheet steel before being welded. The asbestos pad was replaced with a heat resistant composite fabric.
