This is a piece I have worked on for several years. It is the Green Man of Celtic/Druid mythology. He symbolizes fertility, growth, sexuality. He is a traditional figure whose carved face was often hidden in Gothic cathedrals by clever carvers. The pin-up figure is just an extension/up-date of the original theme. This is an assemblage, apprx. 30 x 30", composed of three door handles ( as it is also a passage rite ), a 3/4" carved face on a 1/4" wood background, acrylic paint and marker.
