This painting is from my 1958-1966 spiritual development period. I have left it with its original title but over the years I have understood it in a deeper way. I now recognize it as being about 'conscience and responsibility'. The blue fretwork represents temporality and the face behind it represents the eternality of what we do. I was moving from thinking about the religion and spiritual development of others to myself.
