PATRICIA FRISCHER DRAWS CROWD

Artist directory :: PATRICIA FRISCHER DRAWS CROWD

About

PATRICIA FRISCHER
Patricia Frischer has a masters degree in sculpture from the California College of Arts, but spent the last 30 years as a painter. The use of color and the idea of telling a story in a non-linear (neo-narrative) way developed in all those years of 2-D work have manifested themselves in her return to her three dimensional roots in her newest series Singularities. You are drawn in by the texture and hues of these constructions that are elaborate, even decadent. Found objects are transformed and coerced into alters and fetish objects but a closer look reveals a story about indulgences and obsessions. There is always pleasure and humor in Frischer’s art but these new works also make you wonder “How in the hell did she makes those?” The pieces can be calming...

In Record Time The exhibition, IN RECORD TIME , is not a retrospective of my 50 years of art-making, but instead takes paintings created in the far- and near-past and puts them into a-current-day context. In preparing for this exhibition, I came across the term chronotope , a word new to me that describes how configurations of time and space are represented in language and discourse.
Not Your Mother's Finger Bowls Sculptures in glass and glycerin. This glass sculptures were begun in 2017 and finished in 2019. Molds were made for a whole series of glass sculptures and those molds were used to make new creations in pure glycerin soap.
Singularities Works in this series explore the idea of a all consuming desire of some magnitude
