Shamanism and cubism

When I was first introduced to Cubism the style was described as looking at a person or scene from different vantage points and was inspired by Picasso's  introduction to African masks. The use of the African masks is misunderstood in this explanation. These masks are shamanistic tools and the different visages on them are the shaman's helping spirits whose unique powers the shaman uses  to perform his/her community functions.
