This fish reminded me of the use of the fish symbol in early Christianity. In that time Christianity was a religion of the poor and outcast but now has in many places turned into a weapon to be used by the rich, bigoted, and hateful against others. This fish is what Christianity has been turned into - it is dead but jeweled in its rot.
