Often considered the most elaborate costume for Bleuette, the La Semaine de Suzette pattern , Manteau de la Robe Habillée , ( fancy coat and dress) is a superb holiday ensemble, complete with the fur toque of the same year.
My rendition begins with the special occasion dress; silk taffeta with antique lace ruffles and insertion, is belted with a silk ribbon that ties at the back.
The wonderful Renaissance inspired coat is vintage cotton velveteen, trimmed with embroidered silk, and lined with a silk woven stripe. There are about 15 little pattern pieces that go into the coat alone! The result is pure resplendence.
Her fur toque is genuine fur, probably mink, and lined with silk. I embellished the top with feathers and berries and a red silk ribbon,
I cobbled some fancy shoes to match…genuine leather with an embossed pattern, green top-stiching, and silk ribbon ties. I'm also including her fancy black lace stockings. This ensemble was sized to fit both vintage and reproduction Bleuettes.
Exquisite materials, unique design interpretations and masterful execution combine to make a creation from Bluebird Textiles a treasure to spoil the finest of dolls.
NOTE: doll is not included.
