N.B. the bright blue represents the opposite prevarication, K'an "Agitated Rest", with which this forms a natural pair -
with Ch'ien there is always an option to remain dark (or move towards brightness)
with K'un the option to remain bright (or move towards darkness)
with Li and K'an the natural inclination is towards vacillation.
. . . and I am sure, even though it may not be our chosen state, that vacillation between hesitating action and agitated rest is something many people are familiar with!
I was very pleased that as K'un and Ch'ien were progressive graduations, making it easy to blend colors, Li and K'an tend to alternate between strongly contrasting colors - blending is no longer possible. The "opposition and reconciliation" exercises were a good preparation for this!
Sometimes it is appropriate to continue down a path of natural growth but on other occasions we have to jump, reverse, resist, change or switch.
