Still life

Because I like to experiment with paint and try new ideas, this gallery reflects the many styles and techniques that I have ventured into. There's something about a new canvas and fresh paint that gets my creativity going.   Sometimes a style will depend on the subject matter and how I want to portray it.  But mostly I do not steer away from detail in my Artwork.
As part of my Artistic development with creativity, I experimented with various styles.  Early on I felt I had a skill and talent for detail but I wanted to be more creative. The "Tree in Sunset," and "Night Fall," were part of this concept that depicted the dispersion of sunlight. Depicting the sunlight is where I began with this technique. In the painting "Snow Clearing"  I continued this concept by using strokes to depict atmosphere and sunlight dispersing through the trees.  The final phase, which was later in this developing style  was named "Amber Skies" and "Vase Still life."  I feel that this was a style that could be developed further and could involve other subjects relating to spacial topics such as distance and perspective however, I did not pursue it much further and other aspects of painting  lead me into other areas in Art.
I like using a wide flat paint brush.  This has become my favorite brush because of the clean sharp-edge stroke that I like.  I used these flat brushes in the painting called "Cheetah at rest" where this was used for the entire painting including the Cheetah's spots.  This painting is in my Animals around the Globe gallery and not in this gallery.
I continued working on shapes with large square brushes. This involved squaring off shapes such as petals on flowers. I used the brush so that i could paint circles and other shapes with one long stroke.  I do not have all my paintings where I have created shapes with this technique.  There are three in this gallery "Diamonds in the Sky," "Flower Garden," and "Yellow Daisy."
Another technique I tried was using masking tape to block out and fill in large areas. I liked this better than using other masking materials.  This technique was used in the paintings "Sunset in the City," and "Conueing ."
