Art covers so many Fields and Specialties. Art can be structured or Free form. It does not have to be Visual such as in Sound. However for most purposes in Fine Art it relies on the Visual aspect. In my opinion an Artform is a skill that has reached a level of self-expression and creativity. Even in a representational structured Artform such as Sculpture there is individual style and expression.
As an Artist many things in our lives leave impressions on us that affect our imagination. Some of the Art expresses something that is representational or can be a view point. Visual Art can offer the viewer something in an idea that can enhance our own understanding of something in the World or in life itself.
Nature in various places have left an impression on me. To see things firsthand is not the only way Nature has had an affect on me. Other Media on this subject such as Television Programs, Books, Movies, and the Internet have affected my Artistry. Nature had an effect on my imagination since childhood but it is not just about objects in Nature but also to create an atmosphere that conveys a feeling or emotion whether it is the warmth from the Sun or the briskness of moving water. And Wildlife that inhabits these places will validate the landscape.
Art History has always been interesting to me however, I was not fortunate enough to study it to a greater extent. In my opinion, Modern and Contemporary Visual Art has developed from the Art movements of the past.
I feel that we could not be where we are in Art without the evolving Styles of the Artist and Masters of Art History. This could.be said about many things such as inventions that were created from prior inventions of the past. I feel that Art plays an important role in that it sometimes expresses the trends and changes in our History. It reveals some things that are current in that particular time period. It helps us understand changes going on in the World and leaves us a record of trends that we can visualize.
Art has moved into different styles involving Geometrics such as Cubism, creative usage of color as in Pointilism, Impressionism that involved Sunlight, Color and Style, as well as Abstract Art. An Abstract which is subjective can offer the viewer a better understanding or relate to the Artist's creative idea through a somewhat Free Style and representational Art. I can see in my own Art the various movements and developing stages regarding light, Color usage and Style as well as subject matter. I also moved into areas of Designing that involved many aspects such as Composition, textures, Shape, etc.
For me, Art has been an experimentation with everything aforementioned. Art has been a way of expressing my ideas, beliefs, and interests through experiences as well as my desire to express my curiosities about different subject matter. My creativity has developed over time through self-study as well as in the Classroom. I feel that Art is a continual learning process and as an Artist just as I've grown in my life I've grown in my Art.
