In my work with Color I use variations of dark and light color as represented on the colorwheel with palest of yellow to the deepest of purple to create form and shape to objects and subject matter. Monochromatic color can create the subject as well. I find it to be challenging to use variations and gradations of one Color. I am using the Color Blue in this case and choose warm blues as well as cooler blues. The more variations and uses of the Color help to develop a more interesting Pastel when only using unicolor. The blue eyes of a Snow Leopard or the deep blue night sky as well as day sky have been chosen for obvious reasons. A deep Ultramarine Blue is used in place of Black. Monochromatic Earth displays the Blue pond and sky as well as the bluish distance on the horizon. These are the ideas that motivated this series.
The Color Blue represents a multitude of subjects in the World. In my opinion it can also create various moods in that there can be something moody and somber. Other topics in Blue such as the Blue sky and Blue birds as well as Blue water can involve joyful and comforting emotions. Having the Blues can be sad but sometimes relishing in the moment there can be a comforting effect as well. Not all the Pastels in this Gallery involves a Blue Subject.
