I have been with Zhibit.com now for over 5 years.   My work and my styles vary and have changed over time.  Although I like detail I have steered away from it at times.  However,  I feel that my detail work is my true style and have experimented with it in various ways.   Early in my life I began an interest in Art and I feel that I had an Artistic ability but I needed to develop it.  I learned the fundamentals of Drawing and Painting in College over the course of my lifetime.   Although there has been some limitations to my Art education,  I have studied on my own as well as having been tutored by Renowned and very knowledgeable Artist.  My Artwork reflects the learning and progression process. The later or current work may not reflect my past works but it has developed through many stages and periods that might be noticeable.
I have pursued different subject matter in recent years such as Abstracts and also Astronomy such as the Celestial Skies.  These can be seen in each Gallery. My interest in Earth as a Planet in the Solar System as well as the interplanetary Space is the reason and motivation behind my Celestial Gallery.   I feel I have to mention, especially in my Earth gallery, that I am an Artist creating Paintings.  There may be some detail however that may depict some factual information and knowledge.  Although I study this subject matter I am not an Illustrator but I might depict some factual information and involve it when creating paintings. These are my own interpretations in artform.  Having knowledge of the subject matter is useful and necessary in most of my work but may not depict Scientific fact.  I find this subject fascinating  and I hope with my limited knowlege and depictions are intriguing to the viewer.
As I have mentioned I feel I have been influenced by Artist while I have studied Art History.  Some names I am referring too are Matisse, Van Gogh, and Monet.  Many of my Artworks involve Designs in Still life which might include various Wall Patterns and Decor.  This has been and interest of mine.  Impressionistic landscapes reflect my influence and my style from the Impressionist Artist in the History.  This impressionistic style developed while experimenting and developing my own Art.  This is most noticeable in my Landscapes.
Color usage is very significant in my paintings, whether it is Landscapes, Still lifes, Animals, Birds or Designs. I like to use many colors and color combinations that appeal to and affect the eyes and senses.  I feel that using complimentary colors has a strong impact especially when it is used in lights and shadows.   I also use Color that is representational in our World with some of my Abstracts but Color can also be used to contrast with another Color to impact the Visual senses.  The Visual senses can affect emotions.  I have spent quite a bit of time working with Color and I feel  it is reflected in  my paintings with Acrylics and Pastel.  Many aspects of my landscapes involve color and changing hues.  Distance can be depicted as color changes or variations of a color. In shadows of an object there are color changes as well as colors reflecting from an object.  Sunlight also affects these colors. Sunlight can be seen in many of my landscapes that I have created.
I have been observing Nature all my life. I like to create a mood when I am painting landscapes.  Sometimes an Impressionistic Style is noticeable especially in my later work.   I feel that there are colors reflected in objects to the trained eye that are not so obvious to the untrained eye.  I sometimes like to pull out these colors to make them more obvious.  These are color changes created by light.  Some of my landscapes depict cloudy days or even rain or snow.  I have to add that clouds and rain and even snow are a part of our lives and  I feel that without them we wouldn't notice the blue sky. So therefore I paint them because they do exist and I cannot ignore them.
My interest in Animal and Wildlife Art began in my early years.  I use reference material from photos, books, and other media. It is important to me to study their characteristics as well as their natural environments. It inspires me to create a likeness to their natural habitats.  In addition to this I also use Zoo environments to portray them.  Zoos I feel are important to us so that we can observe Wildlife that are somewhat impossible for us to see. I feel Wildlife enhances our lives and are also important to our ecosystems.
.   Designing for me is a way of presenting colors, shapes, lines in a uniform and organized fashion.  Placing objects in a certain way with a composition in mind.  I also like to create illusions in my paintings for the visual senses. Some have segments and appear as multi-dimensional.  Geometric shapes are interesting and fun to work with.  What is interesting to me is the way I can place them  to form a 3D effect as in my Gray and Tan geometric design.  Patterns can be basically repetitious lines shapes and colors that may have a subject matter and form a design.  This can be seen in my Leaf design.  Many of my pieces have a 3 D appearance. Its important to me to acquire depth. And with Geometric shapes I can accomplish this.. You may also notice some movement in my artwork that is not always intentional. This sometimes is acquired when trying to capture an object or an action at the instant it occurs.
One of my newest ventures that I fell into was Portraiture. My interest to create form led me to create faces with color in mind.  Portraiture as I have discovered is complicated in that the subject's features are not the only consideration.   I've also used Graphite Pencil in creating Portraits. Graphite Pencil is the best medium for me to depict details.
When I have an idea for a painting there is always a plan. Many times I will sketch it to outline the composition and plan for color schemes especially with Designs. However I find as the painting develops I have changed or added to the final product. It may actually turn out to be completely different than the original idea. It is rare that I duplicate a painting however I have redone a few but it is only similar in detail.
I began a strong interest in Art at a young age. As I look back I somehow realized even then how much creativity meant to me.  It has been something important to me. I always dreamed of being a successful Artist through skill and talent. I was driven by my desire to create Artwork that could be recognized but also to express myself through my artistry.  I have pursued my own interest in subjects that matter to me such as Colour, Design and also subjects like Astonomy which heightens my curiosity.  Wildlife and Nature have inspired many of my paintings. I also challenge myself with different aspects of Art such as capturing sunlight on water or perspective. Sometimes its not easy but I work hard at it. I take my Artwork seriously most of the time and would like to sell my Art and be recognized for my talent. However there have been many rewards to being an Artist that go beyond selling.

Making Art is a venture for me where I can be creative and use my developed talent without all the barriers of conventional rules and conformity.
